Doug Norwine


Doug Norwine, an accomplished saxophone player graduated from Bowling Green University in Ohio with a Bachelor of Music degree and received a Masters Equivalent in Performance from Berklee College of Music in Boston. Since 2014, Doug has been Director of the Johnny Mann Center for Commercial Music at Anderson University where he was given the Michael Bowles Award for Teaching Excellence. 

As a busy studio musician in Los Angeles for over twenty-eight years, Doug has received 12 Gold and Platinum records from the RIAA for his work as a studio musician in LA. He has been featured on such television shows as Roseanne, Full House, Seinfeld, Mad About You, In Living Color, Rugrats, Family Ties, Reba, Star Trek, Married With Children, Saved By The Bell, Punky Brewster, Wings, Suddenly Susan, The Tonight Show, Family Matters, Will and Grace, West Wing, General Hospital, Frasier, The Arsenio Hall Show, Golden Girls, The Drew Carey Show, Step by Step, Square Pegs, and many more.  Doug has also been a staff musician for major motion-picture companies including Touchstone, Universal, Warner Bros, Fox, Paramount, and Sony. Doug's movie credits include JFK, True Lies, Leroy & Stitch, Dick Tracy, The Butcher’s Wife, Dead Again, Ten Things I Hate About You, Necessary Roughness, No Way Out, Return to Me, Shoot to Kill, Straight Talk, Stepsister from Planet Weird, Striking Distance, The Unspoken Truth, Bird (The Charlie Parker Story), For Love or Money, Carpool, Blink, Cry Baby, True Believer, and Fright Night. His credits also include playing the baritone sax behind Lisa Simpson and her mentor, “Bleeding Gums” Murphy on the FOX hit series, The Simpsons (The Simpson’s Sing The Blues, The Simpson’s Yellow Album features Doug’s music and earned him Gold and Platinum records).

An active member of American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP), Doug has been a soloist on numerous recordings with such artists as Chaka Khan, Melissa Manchester, The Four Tops, Ray Charles, Maureen McGovern, David Benoit, Rick Braun, Pat Benatar, Woody Guthrie, Johnny Mathis, Diana Reeves, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, and Alphonse Mouzon.

In addition to his studio work, Doug has performed and toured with many famous artists such as Frank Sinatra, Paul McCartney, Chaka Kahn, Bette Midler, Tony Bennett, Melissa Manchester, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons and Harry Connick, Jr.
